A HOMELESS man who has fallen ill and has to use every last penny to fund getting to hospital says he feels let down.

Grant Newley, from Colchester, says he has tried everything he can to find a house but says he has received no response from Colchester Council.

But Colchester Council’s housing management company, Colchester Borough Homes, maintains it has not received any contact from Mr Newley.

The 40-year-old added his mental health has spiralled as he deals with severe cluster migraines and being tested for gastroenteritis all while being without a permanent home.

The situation has led to Mr Newley attempting to take his own life on multiple occasions as he struggles to find the money to fund the journeys to hospital for treatment.

He said: “I have been staying at friends’ houses as I can’t really be left on my own and haven’t been able to sort my situation due to my illness.

“I haven’t been offered anything and no-one has contacted me. I want to get back on my feet and back to work.

“I feel so let down; I’ve worked most of my life and now I’m ill I am pleading for some help to get housed.”
