A MAN has won a year's supply of drinks after waiting almost a day for the new Tim Hortons restaurant to open.

The Canadian food-chain's newest restaurant officially opened its doors today (February 15) in Galley's Corner, Braintree.

It was announced that the first person through the drive thru as well as in-store, would win two medium drinks, every day for a year.

The drive-thru winner was Matt Goody, who works as a general manager elsewhere.

The 35-year-old arrived at the drive-thru with his dog at 7.23am on Monday morning, almost 24 hours before opening.

The second winner was 49-year-old personal assistant Boris Vukas, who arrived at 11pm last night.

The highly-anticipated launch was the third store that has opened in Essex, with the other two in Thurrock and Harlow.

Chief Commercial Officer of Tim Hortons franchise in the U.K Kevin Hydes said: “Today marks our expansion further into Essex, opening our third drive-thru restaurant in the county.
