A MAN charged with murdering a father-of-three in an alleged hit-and-run attack is also facing allegations of sexual offences and false imprisonment.

Keith McCarthy, 42, was charged with murder on Thursday after being extradited back to the UK from Ireland.

The charge relates to the death of Kerrin Repman, 29, who died after his motorbike collided with a BMW in Marine Parade, Dovercourt, on the afternoon of Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

A murder investigation was launched, with police believing Mr Repman was the target of a hitand-run.

McCarthy also faces a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the same incident.

A woman, aged in her 80s, was also involved in the crash and suffered life-changing injuries.

McCarthy appeared before a judge at Chelmsford Crown Court today for a preliminary hearing.

Appearing over videolink from HMP Chelmsford, McCarthy, of no fixed address, wore a dark jumper and spoke only to confirm his name.

During the short hearing, the court heard McCarthy faces separate allegations of “miscellaneous” sexual offences, two charges of false imprisonment and charges relating to the supply of Class A drugs.

Judge Christopher Morgan said: “Mr McCarthy, the next hearing as far as you are concerned is April 1, you’ll be produced at Chelmsford Crown Court to assist counsel.

“Until that time you are remanded in custody.

“Your trial has been provisionally fixed for October 10, although as you heard me say, we will look to see if there is an earlier trial slot either here or at another court centre on the South Eastern circuit.”

Mr Repman, who worked as a chef, was remembered by his family as a “loveable and talented” man.

In a statement, they said: “We loved him unconditionally and he worked hard to be a good person and, above all, a good dad to his three beautiful children Romeo, Reggie, and Reenie.

“He was also a great uncle to his niece, Lacey Jane, who loved her uncle Kerrin very much.

“Kez was the youngest of three boys, and his brothers Jamie and Ashley will always remember his cheeky nature growing up.”
