ACTION has been taken to prevent persistent flooding on a busy road after council workers arrived at the scene with heavy machinery on Friday evening.
Cowdray Avenue is often submerged with rainwater and calls have been made to unblock drains to prevent recurring floods.
And council workers were in attendance on Friday evening to try and rectify the issue, with three men wearing hi-vis jackets operating heavy machinery on the stretch of road.
The machinery moved along slowly at around 9pm to unblock each drain one by one.
This is likely to be welcome news to residents and councillors, who have also complained of poor drainage systems on both Ipswich Road and Berechurch Hall Road junction.
