COLCHESTER United have completed their second transfer deadline day signing after snapping up young defender Camron Gbadebo on a short-term permanent deal from Manchester City.

The 19-year-old centre-half has signed for the U's until the end of the season and becomes their ninth signing of this month's transfer window.

Gbadebo had been at City for two years, having joined them from Leicester City's academy.

He already has experience of senior football, having had a spell at National League side AFC Fylde.

U's Director of Football Tony Humes told the club's website: "Cam has come to us with a lot of potential, and hopefully he can fulfil that potential with us.

"Hopefully, he can join the group of young players we have at the club that are around the first team squad and that he can challenge for a place in that squad."
