COLCHESTER’s MP has hit out at a group for trying to score “political points” over a green space’s future.
Middlewick Ranges, which is currently used by the Ministry of Defence, are set to be sold for development in 2022 when firing operations move to Fingringhoe.
Will Quince said: “I have just seen a letter Colchester Labour are putting out in Berechurch and Old Heath yet again trying to score political points over Middlewick Ranges.
“Let me be absolutely clear, and Labour or anyone else can check this with him if they want to, not a week goes by without me raising my concerns and objections to the sale of and building on Middlewick Ranges with the Minister for Defence Procurement, Jeremy Quinn MP.
“I also want to assure residents I will keep doing so, at every available opportunity, without fail.
“I also want to be clear the decision by the then Labour and Liberal Democrat run Colchester Council to include Middlewick Ranges in the Local Plan and allocating it for 1,000 homes has made my job of trying to save it many times harder.
“Perhaps it's time they stopped trying to score political points, showed some contrition and worked with me to save it.”
