In this week’s round-up of fuel prices, we noticed that the cost of the petrol coming from the pumps is starting to creep up again.

The costs may not seem like much per litre, but the difference between the cheapest and most expensive petrol stations could well cost you a few pounds each time you fill up.

Asda remains the cheapest petrol station in Colchester, but only by a mere 0.2p behind its supermarket rival, Sainsbury’s.

Here is a comprehensive run-down of Colchester’s cheapest and most expensive forecourts.

1st – Asda, Turner Road (CO4 5TU) – 143.7p per litre

Asda’s petrol has creeped up by one penny per litre following our last look at petrol prices two weeks ago. A full tank here costs £86.22.

2nd – Sainsbury’s, Stanway (CO3 8AA) – 143.9p per litre

A fraction behind is Sainsbury’s, which has kept its prices consistent week after week. According to our figures, the prices at this petrol station haven’t increased since early December. £86.34 is the overall cost for a full tank of petrol here.

3rd – Tesco, Greenstead Road (CO1 2TE), Tesco Extra, Highwoods (CO4 9ED) Texaco, Shrub End (CO3 4SA), and Co-Op, Peartree Road (CO3 5JX) – 144.9p per litre

All of these petrol stations are tied for third, where a full tank will cost £86.94. It comes after the Tesco petrol stations’ petrol price increased by 1p, and the Co-Op reduced their price by the same amount.
