Numerous roads in Colchester are set to see a temporary 20mph speed limit introduced.

The roads had a temporary 20mph speed applied as part of the initial response to the Covid-19 pandemic, to promote active travel and encourage sustainable forms of transport.

It is expected the changes will expire on July 21.

Roads include sections of Church Street, Clarendon Way, Colne Bank Avenue, Cowdray Avenue Roundabout, Culver Street West, Essex Hall Road, North Station Roundabout, Sir Isaac Walk and Station Way.

More than 40 other roads will also be entirely restricted to 20mph.

  • Two roads are set to close in Tiptree for a total of 90 days from January 31.

Barbrook Lane will close from its junction with Grove Road while Grove Road will also close near Wilkin Drive.

The roads are being shut by Essex County Council while new connection works are undertaken.

An alternative route is available via Barbrook Lane, Green Lane, Grove Road, Wilkin Drive, Kiltie Road and vice versa.

  • Another road will also close in Tiptree on February 8.

Anchor Road will temporarily close for three days while new connection works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

The road will shut from its junction with Station Road.

  • A one-day closure is coming to a road in Colchester.

Alexandra Road will close from its junction with Maldon Road on February 13.

The closure is required while chamber cover frame replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

  • A closure is also set to come to Stanway.

Warren Lane will close from its junction with Bailey Dale on February 21.

The closure will last two nights, from 9pm to 6am as underground cabling work is being undertaken by Openreach.

  • Golden Lane in Thorpe-le-Soken is also scheduled to shut.

The road will close from its junction with Colchester Road for one day.

The road will shut on February 8 for overhead cabling works by Openreach.

  • A road in Stanway is set to close on February 7.

Millers Lane will shut from its junction with London Road to its junction with New Farm Road for three days.

The closure is required while carriageway patching work is completed by Essex County Council.

  • Another road will close in Great Horkesley.

School Lane will close from its junction with The Causeway to its junction with London Road.

The road will shut for three days starting on February 7.

The closure is required while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

  • The Street in Kirby-le-Soken will also close from near its junction with Mumfords Lane.

The road will be shut by Cadent will new connection works take place.

The road will close for one day from February 13.

  • A road in Brightlingsea will close for five days.

Wellington Street will shut on February 14 from its junction with Duke Street to its junction with Nelson Street.

The closure is required while new connection works are undertaken by Cadent.

  • A road will also have a 30mph speed limit imposed.

Tiptree Road, Messing, will also be subject to a no stopping order.

The road will also close from February 3 over the course of 18 months from its junction with Kelvedon Road to its junction with School Road.

The road will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public.
