A man who got behind the wheel while over the drink drive limit has been handed a 20 month ban.

Hamidullah Akhtar, 38, of Forest Road, Colchester, admitted drink driving when the case was heard at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on January 20.

The court heard Akhtar had 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath when he was stopped on Clerkenwell Road.

The legal limit is 35.

Akhtar was banned from the roads for 20 months and fined £120.

He must also pay a £34 victim surcharge and £85 prosecution costs.
