COLCHESTER United have made seven new signings this month - but their business in this transfer window may not be done.

The U's have already been very active bolstering their squad before the window closes, next Monday.

John Akinde became Colchester's latest signing this month when he arrived on a two-and-a-half year deal on Thursday, after his contract at League One side Gillingham was cancelled by mutual consent.

The experienced striker followed Tom Dallison, Cameron Coxe, Corie Andrews, Emyr Huws, Owura Edwards and Myles Kenlock in linking up with the club in January.

The window slams shut for transfers in this country on Monday, at 11pm.

Colchester interim head coach Wayne Brown said: “We’re always hopeful of adding quality.

“If the right quality comes along and if the right deals are there to be had, then we’ll try our best to do them.

“It’s an exciting time with only a few days left of the window.

"And until that window shuts, answering whether or not we will bring in new players is very difficult.

“But if the right quality comes around and the right deals are there to be had, then it’s definitely something we can look at.

“You never know – the January window is always tough for everyone because things happen really quickly.

“Right up until the end of the deadline and the last minute, you just don’t know what’s going to happen.

“Potentially yes but who knows?"

Colchester currently lie six points above the League Two relegation zone, heading into their home game against Swindon Town, on Saturday.

They will be hoping to follow up their fine 3-0 win at Salford City last weekend with another win, this weekend.
