New data from Cycling UK has identified the roads throughout Colchester and the rest of Essex which are plagued by potholes.

Throughout Britain, statistics show there is an average of one road defect for every 110 metres of road.

The data allows people to identify trouble spots where potholes are a particular problem.

Combined, both East Street and East Hill have a total of 20 potholes, which are a danger to both cyclists and divers alike.

Throughout Essex, statistics show there is a total of 3,798 hazards currently county-wide, down from 4,801 after Essex Highways mended 984 potholes.

The repair rate, which sits at 21 per cent, places Essex 94th out of 214 local authorities.
