COLCHESTER United WILL return to stripes again next season.

The U's controversially ditched their famous blue and white stripes on their home shirt for the first time in decades, in the summer of 2019.

This season is the third in succession that they have worn all-blue shirts.

But Colchester chairman Robbie Cowling, speaking to Glenn Pennyfather on the BBC Essex fans' phone-in this evening, has revealed that they will revert back to their popular blue and white stripes next season.

Colchester did wear stripes once, last season.

The U's sported a unique blue and white striped shirt for their crunch game with Southend United at the JobServe Community Stadium, last April.

Colchester won that game 2-0, a victory that all but sealed their place in League Two again for this season.

Replicas of the one-off special shirts were only available to fans who had Loyal Supporter tokens.
