A BUDDING architect has called on others to consider an apprenticeship after she hit the jackpot with an exciting opportunity.
Asma Parker, 18, landed an apprenticeship at Colchester-based property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood, and has hit the ground running in her role.
The teenager from Colchester joined the firm on a four-year Level 6 Architectural Assistant Apprenticeship, equivalent to a degree, to become a fully qualified architect assistant.
She said: “I’ve always been fascinated by the built environment but wasn’t sure about the pathways.
“I’m a hands-on person and, although I applied for university, when it got closer to the time I realised I wanted on-the-job training while earning a wage.

“I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot with this opportunity, it’s been brilliant so far. I’m learning so many skills and getting so much support from my mentor.
“Apprenticeships are getting more popular and I think more young people should definitely consider them.”
Ingleton Wood is now encouraging others to get involved with its apprenticeship opportunities. For more information, email recruitment@ingletonwood.co.uk.
