A DOG owner was left heartbroken after her rescue pooch suffered a second attack, from the same dog.

Claire Morrison, 37, of Harwich, was walking her four dogs along the West End Lane on Wednesday afternoon when her eight-year-old pet was attacked while on a lead.

Kane was pinned down by a large white female dog with brown patches on, which is believed to be owned by an elderly resident.

Over the summer Kane fell victim to the very same violent dog, again off its lead.

Claire said: “I tried to walk in a different direction to the dog and its owner, but the dog charged over to mine.

“Kane was on a lead, did absolutely nothing to attract the other dog’s attention, but it ran over to him, pinned him down and attacked.

“I had to pull his dog off mine as he couldn’t get over quick enough. Thank God his dog had a handle on her harness that I could grab.

“She broke free from my grip then charged after my other dog, border terrier, who luckily is very quick so could get away.

“Had she got hold of him, I’m sure she would have caused a lot of damage.”

Following the attack, Kane is doing well and has no visible injuries but Claire says he is still shaken up and limping.

He is also said to be feeling nervous while on a walk fearing he might be attacked again.

Claire added: “Kane has had such a horrible life.

“He was in an animal shelter in Romania for years and we had him as a foster dog at first but we fell in love with him.

“He is such a sweetheart. He loves people and other dogs.

“My husband says we are meant to be protecting him and I feel really guilty that we brought him over here to have a better life and something like this has happened to him twice.

“He doesn’t deserve it.”

Claire says the owner of the dog has since come forward to apologise and has promised to keep it on a lead from now on.
