AN all-day live music event boasting more than 20 performers is set to take over a town centre venue in aid of two vital charities.

Essex Rocks presents We Wish You A Merry Sadmas is taking place on December 19 at Coda, in High Street, Colchester and will feature 26 acts.

The gig, which has been organised in association Black Cactus Studio, is being held on behalf of The Robin Cancer Trust and Musicians Supporting The Homeless.

The former raises awareness of germ cell cancers in men and women while the latter aims to help people who are having to sleep rough.

All proceeds from a raffle being drawn on the day of the event will be donated to the two charities, in addition to 15 per cent of the bar’s takings.

Throughout the event there will also be many opportunities for gig-goers to put their hands in their pockets and donate directly to the causes.

A spokesman for the free all-dayer said: “This started out as a funny thing between two drunken friends has suddenly snowballed with no sign of slowing down.

“With live acoustic acts starting in the afternoon we will slowly ease out way into bands.

“This has been so hard to keep quiet but is set to be Colchester’s biggest Christmas event, so get ready to have your halls decked, Colchester.”
