POTENTIAL weapons have been removed from the streets after police officers conducted a knife sweep.
Essex Police’s Harwich Community Policing Team carried out a search for knives in Bathside, The Hangings, and the town centre on Friday.
The patrol was part of the force’s Operation Sceptre week and resulted in two knives being seized and disposed of by the force.
The latest search came after police officers in Clacton also conducted a knife sweep, and a litter pick, alongside volunteers, councillors and employees at McDonald’s.
A spokesman for the local policing unit said: “Thank you to all the organisations who have joined our officers throughout the week with knife sweeps and litter picks.
“If you know someone who carries a weapon or have information about knife crime in Tendring, you can complete an online reporting form at essex.police.uk or call 101.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
