INQUESTS will be held into the deaths of a man and a woman who lost their lives following a horror crash on the A12.

A young man and woman, now named as Abel Cortinas-Fueris, 19, and Sheera Tinotenda Nyachega, 21, were pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on the A12 between Stanway and Marks Tey.

The crash, on Monday, November 8, also left two other people who were passengers in the vehicle with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 12.45pm, with police confirming a vehicle had left the road and struck a tree.

Police officers, paramedics, air ambulance medics and firefighters from Colchester, Witham and the Urban Search and Rescue Team all attended.

Inquests into the deaths opened at Essex Coroner’s Court this morning.

The inquest was told the driver, Abel Cortinas-Fueris, and a passenger, Sheera Tinotenda Nyachega, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Both inquests were adjourned by coroner Michelle Brown until June 20, 2022, at 2pm.

Following the crash, an Essex Police spokesman said: “A vehicle left the road on the northbound carriageway at around 12.45pm.

“Sadly, a man and a woman in the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

“Two other people who were also in the vehicle sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.”
