A drug driver has been banned from the roads for two years.
Jason Massey, 46, of Medway Avenue, Witham, was found to have an excess level of Delta-9- Tetrahydrocannabinol in his system when he was stopped on the A120 at Horsley Cross on April 18.
Massey had 2.1micrograms per litre of blood. The legal limit is 2.
He was also found in possession of a quantity of cannabis.
Massey admitted both offences and was sentenced at Colchester Magistrates' Court.
He was banned from the roads for 24 months, fined £167 and ordered to pay a £34 victim services charge and £105 prosecution costs.
There was no seperate penalty for the possession of the drugs.
