A SHOPLIFTER has been slammed behind bars after admitting stealing hundreds of pounds of products from a supermarket.

Jamie Howard, 25, stole food and cleaning items totalling the value of £250 from Sainsbury’s in Colchester on May 21.

He also then failed to surrender to Colchester Magistrates’ Court on June 22 after previously being bailed for the offence.

Howard, of no fixed abode, has now been sentenced to prison for two weeks – a punishment harshened due to the “defendant’s record of previous offending.”
