A WOMAN who fears she was filmed naked in a tanning salon booth said she was “frightened, confused and embarrassed” after spotting a mobile phone being held over a partition wall.

Danny Jay Storey, 37, denies pointing his phone camera over the wall of a neighbouring tanning booth at a Clacton salon.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard Storey was a regular customer, often attending three or four times a week.

In February 2019, it is alleged a female customer had entered a private booth neighbouring Storey’s, before getting undressed.

The woman told a jury she spotted something above a partition wall “which looked to her like it shouldn’t be there”.

She said as the object moved along the partition and was raised upwards, she realised it was a mobile phone.

She told the jury she stepped into an upright sunbed to hide.

“I was panicking, I didn’t know what to do – I was undressed and there was a phone camera pointing at me, so I just wanted to hide,” she said.

“When I was in there my mind was racing, I didn’t know what to do, I knew what I’d seen and I knew what had happened.

“I was frightened, I was confused, I was embarrassed.

“My thoughts were catching up with me, I then realised I needed to do something.

“I opened the door and I peeked round and it was gone.

So I dressed, came out and tried to find some help.”

The court heard Storey’s phone was seized after his arrest and following an examination, indecent images of children were found.

Two videos were found depicting a changing room, one of which showed an unidentified naked woman.

The discovery of the images led to an investigation into allegations Storey sexually abused two young girls.

Storey, of Spenser Way, Jaywick, denies four counts of rape of a child, three counts of assaulting a child by penetration, one count of possessing indecent images of children, two counts of attempted voyeurism and one count voyeurism.
