A BUSY town centre road was closed after a bus caught fire.
The incident saw Head Street shut to all traffic on Saturday afternoon while firefighters dealt with the incident.
The closure was in place near the junction with Southway and meant drivers were diverted via Balkerne Hill.
Bus firms First Essex and Arriva confirmed there were delays to services as a result of the closure.

Due to an incident at Head Street, Colchester, services that would usually use Head Street are diverting via Balken Hill until further notice.
Firefighters arrived at the scene around 4.05pm and were able to extinguish the blaze in just 10 minutes.
An investigation found the cause of the fire was accidental.
Head Street eventually reopened to traffic around 6pm.
