AS Armistice Day approaches, this collection of photographs reflect on the impact the Second World War had on our community.
The photographs have been provided by Terry Hutchinson who has set up the Facebook page, Clacton Then and Now.
The images include the devastation caused to Wagstaff Corner in Station Road, Clacton, after a German bomber dropped high explosive bombs on May 9, 1941.
After the onset of war, it was feared that the enemy could invade along the east coast beaches. Other photos in this collection show defences being built - but the invasion never came.
In December 1944, the promenade opposite The Grand Hotel and The Towers was also badly damaged by German bombs.
