A MAN has been banned from driving after failing to give a blood sample when asked to do so by police officers.
Sten Rui, 25, of Homlea, Walton, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.
The incident occurred in Basildon on June 4 after Rui was suspected of having driven a vehicle illegally and being required to do an alcohol and drugs test.
He initially pleaded not guilty to the offence before eventually admitted the charge during a court hearing on October 13.
Rui has now been disqualified from driving for 17 months and sentenced to 60 hours of community service.
He must also pay a £95 surcharge to fund victim services and £200 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
