Long queues are forming on the A12 between Junction 29 for the A120 at Ardleigh and Junction 30 for Stratford St Mary.
A northbound lane on the A12 is closed due to a collapsed manhole cover.
Delays are expected with traffic already queuing back to Junction 29.
