A MAJOR route was blocked this afternoon due to an accident.
The A12 Northbound was blocked at Junction 25 (Marks Tey) due to an accident involving five vehicles and a lorry fire.
Traffic is backlogged as far as south of Kelvedon and long delays are expected.
A spokesman from Essex Police has said it is believed nobody has been injured.
They said: "We were called to reports of a multi-vehicle collision on the A12 near Marks Tey at about 2.35pm today.
"It’s not believed anyone has been injured.

Update 18:00:
The lorry has now been cleared but long delays are expected.
One lane is closed at junction 25 (Marks Tey) and there is congestion to junction 22 (Witham North).
Update 18:30:
All lanes have reopened but delays remain.
