Colchester’s social housing provider has announced no less than 17 successful applicants for this year’s Community Initiative Fund (CIF).

Colchester Borough Homes, which builds and maintains social housing for Colchester Council, uses the CIF to offer £40,000 annually to groups which provide support services, opportunities, and facilities across the borough.

The groups which receive the funding via the CIF are all registered charities, such as St Anne’s Community Hall, where funding will support a Christmas party for local children, and Age Concern Colchester, which will be providing a friendship group at sheltered housing.

Colchester Borough Homes Chief Executive, Philip Sullivan, emphasised the importance of the housing provider’s work to help communities in Colchester.

He said: “Congratulations to the recipients in this round of the Community Fund – these groups provide fantastic opportunities and services for residents in Colchester.

“Supporting communities is so important to us.

“It’s essential tenants and residents have access to a range of quality, local services and I’m proud of the part Colchester Borough Homes has in supporting these groups.”
