A SPECIAL commemorative sporting event was held in memory of a community club’s much-loved late president.

The Probus Club of Frinton, Walton & District is a local organisation for retired and semi-retired men which arranges social activities and regular lunches.

The group organised the first of what will become an annual golf tournament in honour of Keith Banks, who died last year.

Mr Banks was the club’s former long-serving president and also the organiser of many stimulating events for its members.

The competition, held at the Frinton Golf Club, took place over 18 holes on the site’s Havers course and saw 20 golfers take part.

Following the sporting face-off the winner, with a score of 40 points, Pete Dabbs, was presented with the Keith Banks Memorial Trophy by Ann Banks.

A spokesman for the club said: “A very enjoyable day was had by all.”
