VOLUNTEERS raised more than £1,000 to help towards protecting their towns’ heritage by hosting a fundraising Apple Day.
The Frinton and Walton Heritage Trust held their final major fundraising event at the Railway Cottage Gardens.
The annual Apple Day attracted almost 350 visitors who came to pick up bargains from the variety of stalls selling plants, cakes, preserves, bric-a-brac and the many choices of local apples.
Most of the apples were picked from the cottage garden’s trees and were sold on the day to boost the heritage trust’s coffers.

Chairman John Barter welcomed the visitors at the entrance gate and said he was delighted with the turnout and the support of the trust’s many volunteers and members.
