GRANTS of up to £5,000 are available for Tendring businesses to help them recover from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Phase three of Tendring Council’s Business Adaptations Grants scheme has launched, offering the funding to firms within the district.

The deadline for applications is December 15.

Available for businesses to fund changes to practices, the money could be used for things such as developing a website, processing contactless payments, or moving newer start-ups out of owners’ bedrooms and into purpose-built spaces.

Previous applicants can reapply for further funds.

Mary Newton, cabinet member for business and economic growth, said: “If your business has had to change the way it works in order to continue effectively through the pandemic then you could qualify.

“We have funding to give away, and in only a few months, so if you run a business – particularly a small firm or are even a sole trader – I would urge you to apply, and to do so quickly.

“There is also lots of support and advice out there from organisations such as Best Growth Hub and Colbea – both funded by us – to help you navigate grant applications and apply for anything you may be eligible for.

“We at Tendring Council are passionate at getting people back to business post-pandemic, and this is just one way in which we are helping firms to survive and thrive.”

Any independent, Tendring-based business can apply for a grant of up to £5,000, including for purchases made since June 1, which can be back-funded.

National chains and charities are not eligible, and businesses must have been trading since November last year.

The funding comes from Essex County Council and is administered by TDC.
