A big name retailer has applied for permission to sell alcohol seven days a week. 

Next has launched a bid to sell alcohol products from it Tollgate store from 9am to 8pm on Monday to Friday. 

It also wants to sell alcohol from 6am to 7pm on Saturdays and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.  

The objection period will end on October 28.

Anyone who wants to serve or sell alcohol, provide late-night refreshment, or put on regulated entertainment at their premises requires a licence.

The application is advertised and there is a 28 day objection period during which the responsible authorities and general public can make representations in support of or against the application.

If there are no objections made in this time the application must be granted as applied for by the council.
