DOZENS of runners (and dogs) pounded pathways to take part in a 10k running race.

The first Layer 10k attracted more than 60 runners with many choosing to run with dogs for race companions.

The run was organised by Craig Mitchell, who runs Craig’s Events.

The company has now raised more than £12,000 for charities.

He said: “Everyone seemed to enjoy the lovely scenic, but challenging route.”

Leading the way and first man home was Paul Connell, from Great Bentley Running Club, in a time of 43 minutes and 19 seconds.

First woman home was Anna Kocinska in a time of 53 minutes and nine seconds.

First dog back was Janice with running companion Benjamin Ficken, from Running Colchester, in a time of 48 minutes and 19 seconds.

More of Craig’s Events can be found at the Craig’s events page on Facebook.

Other runs are being planned for next year.
