A CASUALTY had to be rushed to hospital for treatment after a car crashed and overturned on a busy road during rush hour.

Police officers and paramedics were called to a section of the A120 near Fox Street at about 8.40am on Wednesday following reports of a smash.

Upon arrival they found a vehicle had crashed and landed on its roof just before the Ardleigh interchange heading westbound and a casualty was in need of treatment.

As a result of the incident traffic soon came to a complete stop before officers reopened a section of the dual-carriageway and paramedics took a person to hospital.

A spokeswoman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: " An ambulance, ambulance officer and the hazardous area response team attended.

"One patient was treated at the scene and transported to Colchester Hospital for further assessment and care."
