A COUNCILLOR is appealing for people to come forward with information after a man suffered serious injuries in an assault in a pub car park.

Essex Police are investigating after the man in his late teens was assaulted by two men in the car park of the Leather Bottle pub, in Shrub End Road, at around 9.45pm on Thursday night.

After getting out of a taxi in the car park, he was attacked with a glass bottle and punched.

He managed to flee and get away from the men and went to the pub for help, before the emergency services were called.

He was then taken to hospital for treatment.

Lyn Barton, Colchester councillor for the Shrub End ward, said: “Hopefully the victim will make a full recovery and I wish him well.

“Please can I ask anyone with information about this troubling incident to get in touch with the police as soon as possible.”

A police spokesman said: “There is no suggestion the incident was in any way connected to the pub.

“The men left the scene in a Range Rover 4x4 which was either brown or bronze.

“One man is described as white, aged in his late 20s and was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

“The second man is white, bald, aged in his mid-30s and was also wearing dark clothing.”

Residents said they were concerned to hear of this attack in what is normally a safe and quiet residential area.

Anyone with information or footage of the incident can contact Essex Police online or using the Live Chat button to speak to an operator between 7am and 11pm.

Alternatively call 101 and cite incident 1494 of September 9.
