FIRE crews were called in to action this week after a crop field caught fire.
Firefighters from Halstead Fire Station were joined by colleagues from Clare Fire Station after reports of a fire in Tilbury Road, Ovington.
Crews were called at 4pm on Tuesday, September 7 with reports says a field was on fire.
A two hectare crop field has caught fire and was burning a tractor.
Due to a limited water supply, further fire teams had to be called to assist.
An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "On arrival, crews reported that a two hectare field containing cut crop was on fire and was affecting a tractor.
“Two additional crews from Sible Hedingham and Wethersfield were called to help as the water supply was limited.
“Firefighters extinguished the fire by 5pm.
