A probe has been launched after a man sustained serious facial injuries in an attack in a Colchester pub car park.

Essex Police are investigating after a man, aged in his late teens, was assaulted by two men in the car park of the Leather Bottle pub, in Shrub End Road, at around 9.45pm last night.

After getting out of a taxi in the car park, he was attacked with a glass bottle and punched.

He managed to flee the men and went to the pub for help, before the emergency services were called.

He was taken to hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman said: "There is no suggestion the incident was in any way connected to the pub.

"The men left the scene in a Range Rover 4x4 which was either brown or bronze.

"One man is described as white, aged in his late 20s and was wearing dark-coloured clothing.

"The second man is white, bald, aged in his mid-30s and was also wearing dark clothing."
