A MOTORING retailer and garage has pledged to give away thousands of pounds of free services and products to Colchester residents to mark its reopening.

Halfords, in Cowdray Avenue, alongside Halfords Autocentre, in Brook Street, closed last month so refurbishments could be carried out.

Much to the delight of petrolheads and cycling fanatics the two sites have now finally started to welcome back customers and have undergone significant upgrades.

Faster and more efficient welcome zones have been established, as well as a new live experience area which teaches customers how to get the most out of products.

Among many other new features, a floor dedicated completely to cycling has been installed and a new mobile expert van has been recruited.

In the garage, technicians will now be able to work on electric vehicles and customers will be able to see into the workshops as screens show the status of their vehicle.

To celebrate the relaunch Halfords has now promised to give away £12,000 worth of services and products to people living in Colchester.

The pledge kicked off with tyres being given to residents of Magnolia Drive, which is infamous for its tyre-destroying potholes.

The initiative will also see everything from free MOTs and 10-point checks to £25 bike vouchers and tyre changes put up for grabs, totalling 25-days’ worth of free work.

Halfords is rolling out its extremely generous giveaway to Colchester residents to also mark the start of its brand new concept format.

The retailer wants to transform the customer experience and help keep Colchester, which will be the first of three towns to trial the new hyper-local format, on the road.

Gazette:

Rob Bradbrook, retail manager for Halfords Colchester, said: “We can’t wait to be able to do more for the town of Colchester with the launch of our new concept format.

“We hope that residents will take full advantage of our pledge because we are committed to keeping the people of Colchester on the move.”

The giveaway, operating on a first come first serve basis, will be open from 10am on Friday September 3 to 10am Friday September 17, while stocks last.
