Drivers are being warned about closures planned at the long-running roadworks scheme in Ipswich Road in Colchester next week.

Essex Highways announced the closures as part of the latest stage of the nearly finished £6.5 million roadworks.

Works to Cowdray Bridge, which runs over the railway line, are now almost complete.

The roundabout at Ipswich Road will soon fully reopen, however, further works are planned to install a new zebra crossing in Ipswich Road South.

To enable the zebra crossing to be installed night closures will be needed in Ipswich Road South.

The road will be closed from Wednesday September 1, to Friday September 4, between 8pm and 6am.

The road will reopen next Saturday, September 5.

"Thank you for your continued patience while we complete this final phase."

Some businesses were also hit as drivers avoided the area.
