COLCHESTER'S week-on-week Covid rate has risen, latest figures revealed.

According to the data in the week to August 19 the borough's average infection rate was 247 cases per 100,000 people.

There were a total of 487 cases of coronavirus confirmed during this week.

The rate has increased slightly from 241.4 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier, when 476 cases were recorded.

Tendring's week-on-week Covid rate has also risen to 203.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week to August 19 from 199.5 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier.

Of the 312 local areas in England, 210, or 67 per cent, have seen a week-on-week rise in rates, 100, or 32 per cent, have seen a fall and two are unchanged.

A map compiled using Government data also shows the number of cases recorded in each part of Colchester.

Figures, from the week to August 18, show the area which recorded the most cases was Mile End and Braiswick with 45.

The least amount of cases were seen in West Bergholt and Wormingford, which saw 11 cases.
