A MAN suffered a head injury in a daylight assault.

The victim, a man aged in his 40s, and his partner had become involved in an argument with another man and woman in Head Street, Colchester, at 5.20pm on Thursday.

An East of England Ambulance spokesman confirmed a man and a woman were taken to Colchester Hospital for treatment following the assault.

He said: “An ambulance was called to a suspected assault on Head Street in Colchester.

“A man with a head injury and a woman with an injury to her arm were transported to Colchester Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”

Police are looking for footage of a town centre fracas and appealed for help from the public.

A police spokesman said: “Our inquiries into the incident are ongoing.

“We need anyone who saw anything or has any CCTV, dash cam or mobile phone footage to come forward.”

On Friday, a man and a woman were arrested in connection with the incident.

A woman, 40, from Colchester, and a man, 38, from Kent, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and were taken into custody for questioning.

Hedingham Buses confirmed one of its buses was taped off by police “purely to help preserve the scene” and said it was not involved in the incident.

A Colchester Council spokesman said the authority has shared CCTV footage with the police to assist with the investigation.

He said: “All of the footage was captured using the very latest 4k high-definition cameras.”
