THRILLSEEKERS can enjoy a night of frightful fun to mark Halloween at Colchester Zoo.

The zoo's popular Trail of Terror event will return this October, offering visitors a totally different experience at the attraction.

Devised last year whilst Covid restrictions were in place, the Trail of Terror will see revellers enjoy a spooktacular route through the attraction with scares, screams and laughter on the way.

Unlike previous late night Halloween events at Colchester Zoo, The Trail of Terror begins as soon as you step foot in the door.

It lasts up to an hour and a half with some "safe zones" along the route.

Expect everything from rustling bushes, to masked monsters and screaming scarers - which could come at you from all angles.

A spokesman for the zoo said: "The Trail of Terror begins as soon as you step foot in the door, from rustling bushes, to masked monsters and screaming scarers, they could get you anytime and anywhere…

"We do have a limited number of safe zones during the trail which are located alongside food outlets offering hot food, snacks and drinks that you can enjoy without fear of being scared."

Here is the announcement video from the zoo:

There are seven dates in October when the Trail of Terror is taking place at the zoo, in Maldon Road.

These are October 15, 16, 22, 23, 27, 29 and 30.

There are timed entry slows from 6.30pm each evening.

Arrivals will be staggered along the trail adding to the mystery of what is around the corner.

The zoo will remain closed whilst the scare fans are taking part in the trail.

Due to the nature of the event, it is not recommended for anyone under the age of 12.

No one under five will be admitted and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult in order to attend.

The zoo says due to its unpredictable nature, the event may not be suitable for some people with sensory or other specific needs.

Tickets are not yet available to book, however, you can find more information at colchester-zoo.com/event/the-trail-of-terror-30th-october.
