A NEW venue offering luxurious afternoon team in lavish surroundings of a historic 15th century hotel has opened in Colchester town centre.

Tea at the George, located at the newly revamped George Hotel, in High Street, offers an array of handmade fancies curated by the venue's pastry chef.

There are sustainably sources artisan teas as well as champagne, cocktails and gin also on the menu at the Victorian inspired tearoom.

Its menu features traditional, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options as well as options for little ones.

The George has just undergone a £10 million renovation thanks to owners Flying Trade Group.

As well as the new tearooms, the upgraded premises also has 47 bedrooms, an upgraded restaurant, longue bar and secret courtyard dining area.

Tea at the George also offers special menus including British Summertime Tea featuring a jug of Pimms for revellers.
