A POPULAR Colchester pub has undergone a total refurbishment and reopened under new management.
The Ancient Briton, in Iceni Way, Shrub End, reopened at the start of July after a full revamp of the premises.
Sarah Elliott-Hearn, who had worked under the previous owners of the pub for many years, has taken over the job of pub manager at the request of the new owner.
She said: "The previous owners did not reopen after the second lockdown as they retired.
"My boss took over the tenancy at the end of May and we reopened on July 1.
"The pub has been completely renovated since we took over.
"We have updated everything inside and things have been going really well.
"Having worked here before I know the regulars have all come back which is really good news.
"Some have been coming to the pub for 50 years."
The Ancient Briton has space for around 200 drinkers with a huge selection of different beverages available as well as facilities for both pool and darts.
There are two bars and a large function room which can be rented by the public.
From September Sky Sports will be up-and-running at the pub and there are plans to host regular gigs at the premises as well as karaoke and quiz nights on a monthly basis.

Sarah, who has worked in hospitality since the age of 18, said: "We only had two pool teams and two darts teams before now we have four pool teams and three, soon to be four, darts teams.
"We are offering specials this month such as happy hour and military discount. We held a cocktail tasting session which went really well.
"I absolutely love it running the pub.
"I like the hustle and bustle and no two days are ever the same.
"I like spending time getting to know the customers too and I can do that more as the manager."
Sarah has organised a day of charity events this Saturday to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.
An afternoon tea is being held at the pub between 2pm and 5pm.
From 7pm there will be a quiz at the pub, with all funds raised going to the charity.
