EMERGENCY repairs are needed to stop a historic building in Colchester town centre from collapsing.
EAP Property Services has applied to Colchester Council for planning permission to make repairs to the structural timber frame of a building in Crouch Street.
The grade-II listed building was most recently used as an estate agents but is now empty.
A report says the property is showing signs of movement due to the structural timber frame degrading with a temporary support set to be installed to "prevent possible collapse'.
A report says: "In formulation, the repair of this building attention has been paid to carrying out the minimum intervention to achieve sound structural integrity.
"At the same time protecting the longevity of the listed building and maintaining the street scene in a conservation area."
