LIVEWIRE Sylvester Jasper says he already feels right at home at Colchester United after making an impressive start to his loan spell at the JobServe Community Stadium.

The exciting 19-year-old attacker has shone for the U’s since joining them on loan from Championship side Fulham, earlier this month.

Jasper has started Colchester’s last two matches, making his first-ever professional league start in their 1-0 home defeat against Northampton Town at the weekend.

“It was great playing in front of the fans at home for the first time,” said Jasper, who has made three senior appearances for Fulham to date.

“I really enjoyed the atmosphere playing here and it’s my new home.

“I love playing football and if I can do that for Colchester and make them happy, then I’ll do that as well.

“They’re a great bunch of lads here and they’ve helped me settle in really well from the first day I came here.

“I also feel at home on the pitch and the chemistry is good between me and the boys and I just want to turn that into wins.”

Having started in a wider position against Birmingham City in the Carabao Cup last week, Jasper was deployed in a more central role against Northampton.

And despite his tender years, the teenage forward has already shown his versatility.

“I’ll play wherever the manager wants – wherever I can help the team, I’ll play there and give my all,” he said.

“Hopefully we can turn that into wins and get points on board.”

Colchester will be aiming to bounce back against Mansfield tomorrow night, following their home defeat against Northampton.

The U’s are still looking for their first win and goal of the season but Jasper is confident that it is just around the corner.

Jasper said: “That’s football and things like that happen.

“We’ll have games like this and we’ll have games where it’ll probably be the other way around.

“The Northampton game is now behind us and we’re now looking forward to Tuesday and hopefully getting the win.

“There was a lot of frustration (against Northampton) – I feel like we were the better team for most of that game and we definitely had the chances to finish the game.

“I hold myself to account for one of them but if we keep playing like this, I have no worries that we’ll push for promotion and we’ll be in a good way if we carry on playing like we did.

“The manager gave us a few words of encouragement at half-time.

“We know our quality and what we can do and I feel like in the second half, we showed that playing off the striker, creating so many chances.

“That’s when we looked at our best and the crowd got behind us and it’s just having that finishing touch and we’ll be alright.”
