A round-up of cases heard at north Essex magistrates' courts this week include a prolific thief who stole more than £2,000 of perfume.

  • A MAN has been hit with a £120 fine after he was found in possession of crack cocaine and heroin.

Kyle Shea, 36, was found to be carrying a portion of both drugs in Colchester on June 8 last year.

Appearing at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on August 2, he admitted two charges of possessing a Class A drug.

Shea, of Catchpool Road, Colchester, was fined £120 and told to pay a victim surcharge of £34.

  • A PROLIFIC thief who stole £50 worth of washing gel from a supermarket chain has been locked up after he breached a community order.

Ryan Hann, 28, admitted one charge of theft after stealing the goods from a Sainsbury’s store in Frinton in July.

Appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on August 2, he was found to be in breach of a community order put in place after a previous found of thefts.

In June, he stole four bottles of alcohol worth more than £100 and more than £2,000 worth of Chanel perfume.

He also attempted to steal a bicycle worth £355.

In May, he stole £200 worth of skin care products.

Hann, of no fixed address, was jailed for ten weeks and ordered to pay £54 in compensation.

  • A MAN who breached a domestic violence protection order has been hit with a £120 fine.

James Parkes, 55, was made the subject of the order, put in place to protect the victims of domestic violence, in July at Southend Magistrates’ Court.

He admitted breaching the order at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on August 3.

The court heard he was in direct contact with the victim and also made contact over text messages and telephone calls.

Parkes, of Gazelle Court, Colchester, was fined £120.

  • A MAN who assaulted a police officer and used threatening words or behaviour has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Vishnu Jadeja, 24, assaulted a police constable in Colchester in July.

At Colchester Magistrates’ Court on August 3 he admitted assaulting an emergency worker and using threatening words or behaviour towards an unknown male.

Jadeja, of The Nook, Wivenhoe, was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and pay £150 in compensation.
