A CORONAVIRUS vaccine bus is pulling up in Colchester every Saturday until the end of the month.

The vaccine bus will be at Culver Square each Saturday until August 28 for walk in appointments for first and second doses.

Community360, a charity supporting the vaccine bus, said on Twitter: "The vaccination bus is delivering the Pfizer vaccine for first and second doses to locations around Colchester.

"No appointment is needed, this is a walk in service."

So far nearly two-thirds of people in Colchester have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

The latest figures show 108,833 people had received both jabs by August 5 – 65 per cent of those aged 18 and over, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.

Figures also showed the East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust, which runs Colchester Hospital, was caring for 43 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday.

NHS England data shows the number of people being treated in hospital for Covid-19 by 8am on August 3 was up from 41 on the same day the previous week.

There were six beds occupied by Covid-19 patients four weeks ago in East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust.
