A TEENAGER has denied launching an attack on two police officers which allegedly left one victim with “bloody spit” on her face.

Page Allen, 18, is alleged to have swung punches at an officer called out to a domestic incident at Seawick Holiday Park, St Osyth.

Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard two officers were called out to a caravan in the early hours of September 19 last year.

Rima Begum, prosecuting, said when Allen’s partner was arrested, she became agitated.

It is alleged Allen slapped an officer, swung punches towards her and kicked her legs out, hitting both officers.

Ms Begum said Allen spat at the officers, with spittle landing on one alleged victim’s face and mouth.

She said: “During the walk to the police van she continued to kick out at both officers.

“Photos of the officer’s face provided showed spit that was bloody had landed on her face.”

District Judge Timothy King said he was satisfied the sentencing powers of the magistrates court remained “sufficient” to deal with the case.

But Allen, who denies two charges of assaulting an emergency worker, elected to stand trial before a crown court jury.

Sunil Mansingh, defending, said his client had made “quite clear” she would deny any assault took place.

Releasing Allen, of Sisley Road, Barking, on unconditional bail, Judge King said: “The next hearing is four weeks from today, on August 31, a plea and trial preparation hearing.

“If you plead not guilty the court will make arrangements for a trial to take place next year.

“If you do not attend on that occasion a warrant will will be issued for your arrest.”
