A FIREFIGHTER who spotted two dogs “frantically running” near a busy dual carriageway managed to rescue them and take them home.

Millie Sibley, an on-call firefighter at Wivenhoe Fire Station, saw the two Labradors running near a busy dual carriageway on Sunday, when she was returning to the fire station after attending an incident.

She was able to help stop the dogs and subsequently was able to reunite them with their owners.

An Essex Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “Firefighter Millie Sibley, who is an on-call firefighter at Wivenhoe Fire Station, had her first rescue yesterday when she spotted two dogs frantically running near a busy dual carriageway when returning to the fire station after an incident.

“After reassuring the two Labradors, Millie and her colleagues were able to rescue them and take them back home.

“Not only was it a first for Millie as her first rescue, but it was the first time the dogs had ridden in a fire engine too.”
