A STRIP of land not far from Colchester town centre is set to go under the hammer with a guide price of £50,000.

The land, which measures 51m by 10.5m, is considered "suitable for development" subject to the relevant planning consents.

It is located to the west of Bourne Road, less than a mile away from the town centre and just a stones throw from the National Trust's Bourne Mill.

Described as "somewhat overgrown", the unkept land is in a residential area.

The Zoopla advert says it "could offer a great development opportunity" as a site for something like garages.

The advert states: "Located in the heart of Colchester less than a mile to the town centre the land somewhat overgrown and unkept the land is in a residential zoned area and could offer a great development opportunity possibly as a building site, allotment, garage or other use subject to obtaining all necessary consents.

"Colchester is renowned as the oldest recorded town in England and has a large university campus on the eastern outskirts of the town.

"Located in the heart of Colchester less than a mile south of the town centre the land is surrounded by residential properties."

It will go under the hammer at 2pm on Wednesday, September 8, and is being marketed by Auction House Essex.

The guide price for the land is £50,000.

Two further separate pieces of land nearby off Bourne Road, are also set to go under the hammer in the same auction.

The larger pieces of land, which measure half an acre in total, have a guide price of £300,000.

The north of the site used to be a builders yard, whilst the southern part of the second site has several garages on.
