COLCHESTER Council says it is looking into an incident at the Fenwick store in Colchester on Tuesday morning.

Emergency service rushed to the store, in Colchester High Street, at about 11.30am this morning.

Essex Police say they were called to concerns for the welfare of a child at the department store.

The ambulance service called the air ambulance to land in nearby Castle Park. 

A Colchester Council spokesman has confirmed it will be looking into the incident as part of its health and safety responsibilities.

He said: “We have been made aware by Essex Police of an incident in Fenwicks today.

"We will now be gathering information regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident as part of our health and safety responsibilities to support any potential investigation needed.”

Essex Police closed the high street and North Hill and North Station Road whilst emergency services were at the scene.
